UV PROTECTION

The protection of sunscreen lasts about two hours, which is why dermatologists and the FDA recommend reapplying after that, especially if swimming or sweating.

For adequate protection, apply approximately ½ teaspoon of sunscreen to your face, ensuring even coverage on all areas, including the forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. Don't forget the ears and neck for complete UV defense.

Sunscreen has an expiration date or a PAO (Period After Opening) symbol on its packaging, indicating how long it remains effective after being opened. Using it beyond the recommended period may reduce its UV protection. Checking the PAO and storing it in a cool, dry place helps maintain its effectiveness.

UV protection shields the skin from harmful ultraviolet rays, which can cause sunburn, premature aging, and skin damage. Sunscreen acts as a barrier to reduce UV exposure, while antioxidants and skincare ingredients in UV protection products help strengthen the skin’s defense against environmental stressors.

SPF (Sun Protection Factor) correlates to the sunscreen’s ability to block UVB rays. An SPF 30 blocks roughly 97% of the UVB rays with higher SPFs block slightly more. This number does not correlate to how often a sunscreen needs to be reapplied.
